The Never Ending Affliction of Chronic Pain

Most often if they are not able to do anything for the pain then a sort of "you are going to have to live with it" attitude is adopted. Although now there is some excellent pain management, clinics available and people are starting to take advantage of their services. Some of the old-fashioned doctors feel that all the pain clinics are going to do is dope you up with medications, which are not going to be great for you either. This is not the case, as they will teach you several varieties of pain control. For example learning to deep breathe and meditate can be an excellent source of release from pain. When individuals are in chronic pain, their body is tense all the time, which just compounds the pain no matter what areas it is coming from.

Once learning how to relax the tension and the tightness that is in the muscles starts to release a little bit. It is not so stressful on the nerves. No doubt, it is going to take a lot of time and work to learn how to meditate properly. It is important to try to get beyond the pain which at first tries to take control while you are learning the techniques. Another area that needs to be considered is that stress promotes more pain because it is producing the tension and the tightness. Exercise is great although no doubt when you are in pain the last thing you feel like doing is jumping around or running. It releases chemicals in the brain that help to improve your mood, which is capable of blocking some of the pain signals.

You do not want to take anything that is going to interfere with your sleep patterns. It is probably hard enough with the pain level to get a good nights sleep but if you are taking alcohol or caffeine, it can compound the alertness that you may experience from your pain. In addition, some of your chronic pain medications may interfere with your sleep patterns as well. Therefore, you really want to do as much as you can to keep your patterns normal. Knee pain, problems and injuries make up a significant amount of the cases that we see in the clinic these days. Arthroscopes and knee replacements are some of the most common surgeries performed today.

There are no doubt many contributing factors, but one that we have found to be important in a large percentage of the cases we see in the clinic is a hidden underlying reason...a connection between the function of the gallbladder and an important muscle in the knee called politesse. It sounds unlikely at first, but the gallbladder and the politesse muscle are connected by the gallbladder acupuncture meridian. This connection has been scientifically confirmed by muscle testing using Applied Anaesthesiology, a form of chiropractic.
